How to nominate for INDEX: Award 2007 We have created this folder as a guide to the nomination process for INDEX: Award 2007, where €500.000 is awarded to the most outstanding Design to Improve Life. Who can nominate? • Professional design institutions registered as Nomination Bodies by INDEX: • Private individuals (designers, students, business related contacts or any other persons) Each registered professional design institution or private individual can nominate a maximum of one design within each category, resulting in a total of five nominations. What can be nominated? Overall, the nominated designs MUST have improved the lives of people in a substantial way or carry the potential to do so. We call it Design To Improve Life. Nominated designs can be both tangible designs or intangible designs such as concepts, strategies or services and may originate from anywhere in the world. How are the nominated designs judged? The jury’s main concern is that the nominated designs substantially improves important aspects of people’s lives or carry the potential to do so. This aspect will be thoroughly described by the nominating bodies and the nominated design will be disregarded if the jury estimates that the design fails to do so. Consequently the jury will emphasise the design aspects in the nominated design, and assess whether the design process has added a coherence, concerning form, function, material, construction, use of resources and aesthetics. The jury will also assess: Social, ecological, cultural and economic impact; Accessibility; Affordability; Flexibility and simplicity; User-friendliness; Optimism; Level of innovation; Future potential Categories When choosing a category we ask that nomination bodies make qualified decisions as to which categories their nominations belong.
